Luc Schaedler was born in Zurich in 1963. He is the director and producer of “A Long Way Home” (2018); “Watermarks” (2013); “Angry Monk” (2005), “Made in Hong Kong” (1997) and “Loba Loba” (2021).

His films have been invited to various prestigious international film festivals including: Sundance; IFF Busan; Dok Leipzig; Montreal IFF; IFF Locarno; Munich; Tel Aviv…. (selection).

From 1986 to 2002 he worked at the off-cinema Xenix. From 1988 he undertook various trips to India, China, Tibet and Japan. Since 1998 he has been working as an independent film maker and producer. In 2009 he founded the production company go between films gmbh. From 1998 to 2001 he was involved in setting up the film club Zauberlaterne for children.

Luc Schaedler studied anthropology, film and social history at the University of Zurich and received his Ph. D. in Visual Anthropology in 2005 with a Ph.D. From 2006 to 2008 he was Head of the Visual Anthropology Department at the Ethnological Museum of the University of Zurich. In 2002 he co-founded the ethnological film festival “Regard Bleu” at the Ethnological Museum of the University of Zurich. Since 2001 he had various teaching positions in Visual Anthropology and documentary filmmaking at Universities in Zurich, Bern and Fribourg. From 2006-08 he was head of the department of Visual Anthropology at the Anthropological Museum of Zurich University.
