In the form of a filmic essay the documentary «Traces of Hope» casts a curious glance into the future and searches for subtle «traces of hope».

The essayistic film traces the unique ability of man to think beyond the oppressive present and to develop ideas and visions for future-oriented action. The theme of «hope» and the associated call for creative action will be the basic melody throughout the film. Based on conversations with protagonists, observations and cinematic tableaus, which are associatively related to each other, Traces of Hope  juxtaposes the present «state of the world» with subversive strategies for breaking out of the supposed prison of overstrain and helplessness.

The film explores the unique ability of humans to think beyond the troubled present and follows the question of how can we develop ideas and visions for future-oriented actions?
