Full, uncut interviews with participants (English)
The following clips are the unedited, «raw» interviews with the protagonists who appear in the documentary film Made in Hong Kong. The exception is the Filipina migrant «Connie», who does not appear in the film. All conversations were recorded in Hong Kong in the spring and summer of 1996.
The interviews all revolve around the special – and often ambivalent – relationship (and love) that the protagonists have developed with Hong Kong over the years. With a great deal of humour, but also with deeply moving anecdotes, they offer a rare and intimate insight into the history and the diverse worlds of the city. The historical arc of their migration stories spans from the post-war period (1946) and the Chinese Revolution (1949) to the period immediately before the handover of Hong Kong to China (1996).
